A true story, The Glass Castle, although disturbing, offers a fascinating study in human behavior, socialization and brings us to question what is “normal”. We see solutions, that by our standards would mostly be unacceptable, as we follow the main characters through their soul’s plan; their journey. I stretched my understanding and saw what was beautiful behind what may be perceived as tragic. The strength of all was simply inspiring. But be aware that it is also deeply disturbing for us who have grown up accustomed to certain standards and norms. Be aware of any judgements that you make as you read it – this is a great way to come to terms with beliefs that you hold, that you may not realize are within you.
