Is it possible to never have negative energy in my space?
All spaces, including homes, offices, and land carry energetic impressions, affecting anyone who comes in contact with them.
As children, before we are socialized not to “say things that may be inappropriate”, like, “I don’t like that person”, or “I don’t like the way grandpa’s basement feels”, we are able to “feel” the energy of spaces more easily. As we learn that saying those things may “hurt someone’s feelings” or have other adverse consequences, often we “shut down” the ability to “feel” the energy of spaces, leaving us vulnerable to negative energy influences that may affect our health and wellbeing.
Have you ever passed through a room or building and immediately felt uncomfortable? The feelings and emotions that we experience when we enter a room are the energies left by previous inhabitants. And when we vacate the premises, we add to the energetic mix. And, if there were negative energetic vibrations of anger, fear, frustration, violence and depression they may continue to be present within the space.
These negative energy beliefs and habitual patterns of energy block forward movement and positive change. Like energy attracts more “like” energy, and our working and living spaces provide the ideal environment for mental and emotionally charged energies to compound, coming together. In nature, space is relatively clear. Why? Nature is a natural grounding force, helping to “release” the charges off of both the physical and energetic body. When we used to run without shoes, this would happen naturally. As we become “clothed” we had less contact with the natural grounding forces of nature. Beyond that, the energy of nature is a natural elixir and helps to regenerate the soul. Remember the last time you spent time outside. How did your energy shift? How long did it take for you to feel better? Most of the time the change is immediate.

By removing unwanted interfering energy from your space, you create mental and emotional balance. Low frequency, negative energy can cause great harm to our pets as they function here in helping us to transmute the energy of our karmic challenges – they are angelic and are of a very high frequency, so their sensitivity is greater. That’s why some dogs and cats act strangely toward energy that you may, or may not, be able to see or sense.
Other Signs of Energy Interference
- Lights flickering on and off at will, or other electrical disturbances
- Cabinet doors or regular doors opening and closing on their own
- Objects flying off the wall, or shelves, through space
- A string of bad luck
- Hearing voices
- Smelling odd (either pleasant or unpleasant) odors
- Have the sensation of being touched – especially at night, or wake with scratches on your body
- Hear crashing but can’t find a cause or any object that has fallen
- Hear knocking but can’t find a source, and no one is at the door

- Seen an apparition, either human, animal, or otherwise
These are the signs of negative low frequency energy that may be harmful.
Beyond the energy of those actually living in the home currently, your home carries the energy imprint of all previous occupants as well as those in surrounding areas. Because of this, you or others may feel very uncomfortable in your home.

Using the scents of lavender, pine, Angel Wood (Palo Santo) and white sage is especially useful. Be creative in how you infuse these scents into your home to put your “personal stamp” on the energy in your home. Smudging your domicile with white sage or Angel Wood (Palo Santo) is an effective method to cleanse the energy. The use of salt over doorways and window sills is also very practical – CAUTION! If you have pets that may eat the salt, do not leave it on the ground. I love the use of blessed sea salt sprinkled over the window sills, doorways and in the corners of each room, but if you have pets that may be endangered, then I suggest you use holy water instead.
Always set an intention to remove the unwanted energy as you are scattering small amounts of salt, or spritzing holy water, around your home. Cover all entrances including windows.
